Gila Valley Baptist Church began in 1960 as a mission of the First Baptist Church of Lordsburg, New Mexico. Ten people joined together to form the mission group. Construction of the church began in 1979 with church members providing the labor and was debt-free upon completion. The new building was dedicated on May 24, 1981, and our congregation was constituted as a church.

               Gila Valley Baptist Church has had three pastors and two interims: Kenneth Henderson, 1981-1988, Horace Kennedy, 1988-1989 (interim), Walter Huber, 1989-2002, Tar Henderson, 2004-2016, Dan Grindstaff, September 2016 (interim), Pastor, November 2016-July 2019.

               The people of Gila Valley Baptist Church have been the recipients of God's wonderful blessings throughout the years. By God's grace, we have remained faithful to live out our mission of Exalting the Savior, Equipping the Saints, and Evangelizing the Sinner in our community. This church remains strong being built on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ, guided by God's Word and empowered by the Holy Spirit. May we continue to mature as disciples of Christ, demonstrating love, generosity, commitment and unity all for God's glory.

Gila Valley Baptist Church Anniversary

In April 1960 Gila Valley Baptist Mission was started with the aid of First Baptist Church of Lordsburg. We became independent and organized as a church in May 1981. Gila Valley Baptist is now 60 years old, thank you to the 10 original, dedicated and faithful people that followed God’s will and formed the Mission.
